With immediate effect, or as existing contract allows, BASF is increasing its Asian selling prices for the following products:

* 1,4 butanediol (BDO): up US$220/ton

* Tetrahydrofuran (THF): up US$220/ton

* Polytetramethylene ether glycol (“PolyTHF”): up US$300/ton

* N-methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP): up US$220/ton

* Gamma-butyrolactone (GBL): up US$220/ton

With plants in Europe, Asia and North America, BASF is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of butanediol and its derivatives. BDO and its derivatives are widely used for the production of engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals, and elastic fibers.

On December 11, 2009, Rieter Spun Yarn Systems officially handed over its 3000th SB/RSB drawframe in India to KKP Textiles Limited.

During a Rieter Symposia in Coimbatore, Ellappan Rajavel, Factory Manager of KKP Textiles, received a golden plate inscribed “3000th RSB in India” from Juergen Mueller, Product Manager Drawframes, Rieter Ingolstadt GmbH, Germany, for their new RSB-D 221. This double-head autoleveler drawframe, branded as a piece of “marvel engineering” by KKP Textiles, is produced in Rieter’s own factory near Pune, where the Indian ring spinning machine is also manufactured.

The KKP Group produces high-quality combed and carded cotton yarns from count range Ne 10 to 40, using 78,000 ring spindles and 1,080 rotors. This latest machine has a maximum delivery speed of 2 x 1,100 m/min. Its completely independent machine sides and auto-leveling functions are a unique feature. Each head therefore delivers exactly the same quality and output that are already familiar from the RSB-D 40 single-head drawframe.

KKP Textiles Ltd. is using their one RSB-D 221 for two different processes: one production head with carded cotton and the other production head for combed cotton. This is only possible as the independent machine sides allow the setting of different speeds, roller distances and drafts. Even the suction air in the drafting systems can be differently adjusted.

Just a few months away from the next ITMA ASIA + CITME to be held in Shanghai from June 22nd to 26th, Italy’s leadership position among textile machinery technology suppliers is highlighted by the high number of Italian manufacturers exhibiting at the event.

110 Italian exhibitors will participate in ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010, occupying an overall exhibition space of some 3,800 sq. meters. Sixty-six of the exhibitors will be presenting their products as part of the National Sector Group, organized by ACIMIT (the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and ICE (the Italian Trade Commission). The four Italian clusters will be situated in the spinning (Hall W2), nonwovens (Hall E1), weaving (Hall E4) and finishing machinery halls (Hall W5). The total surface area occupied by Italy’s National Sector Group amounts to roughly 1,700 sq. meters.

ACIMIT President Sandro Salmoiraghi asserted his optimism regarding the upcoming trade fair in China. “In the wake of the positive results for the first edition, ITMA ASIA + CITME certainly confirms its status as the preeminent trade fair for textile machinery in Asia. And China is the largest global market for textile machinery: Chinese imports of machinery for 2008 exceeded 2.6 billion euro. This represents an additional plus for the success of ITMA ASIA + CITME.”

It is estimated that for 2009 Italian exports of textile machinery directed towards Asian markets achieved a value of 575 million euro. Right behind China, as primary markets for Italy’s textile machinery industry, are India, Turkmenistan and Iran.

ispo china 2010 opened its doors in Beijing on March 4th, and can already be proud of impressive growth in its statistics: the number of exhibitors increased by close to 76%, and the net exhibit space was doubled. ispo china covers five halls at the China International Exhibition Center, and overall space of 25,000 sq. meters. In addition, visitor pre-registration experienced a very positive trend. 90% more visitors had already registered in advance for ispo china 2010 than for ispo china 2009.

Asian and international exhibitors alike value ispo china 2010: 210 exhibitors (2009: 119) are presenting more than 300 brands including their products and innovations at the leading platform for sporting goods throughout the entire Asia-Pacific region. New exhibitors include Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, as well as Salewa, planning to establish themselves on the Asian market with their high-quality outdoor apparel, as well as the German swimwear fashion company Fashy, and Suunto, the Finnish manufacturer of sports watches. Another newcomer to the event, British outdoor brand Regatta is also at the ispo china 2010 to introduce its products.

The selection at ispo china 2010 is once again complemented by the parallel-running Alpitec China, organized by the Italian trade fair company, Fiera di Bolzano. Klaus Dittrich, Chairman of the Management Messe Munchen: “Thanks to the exceptional growth rates and the participation of many additional international brands, ispo china experiences a successful breakthrough to become China’s largest B2B sporting goods trade show.”
